At the beginning of 2006, Schuberg Philis welcomed ENECO Energy Trade as a new customer. ENECO Energy Trade, the trading company of ENECO Energie Holding, contracted out all of its mission critical applications and the underlying IT infrastructure to Schuberg Philis.
ENECO Energy Trade, also named EET, manages the energy portfolio of ENECO Energie, one of the three largest energy companies in the Netherlands by turnover and market share. With a turnover in excess of €3.5 billion, ENECO Energie supplies some two million businesses and private customers with gas and electricity.
ENECO Energy Trade is responsible for the procurement and trading of electricity, gas, CO2 emission rights as well as optimizing and managing the electricity production plants in Northern and Western Europe on behalf of ENECO Energie.
To EET, trading and controlling applications as well as the underlying IT infrastructure are of vital importance. Moreover, these systems need to be rapidly adjusted, due to developments in the energy market – particularly dynamic since its liberalization.
Consequently, EET searched for an outsourcing partner able to combine the highest possible availability, service levels and professional risk management with flexibility and innovation.
After a comprehensive tendering process, under the supervision of Morgan Chambers, and which included all of the large outsourcing companies, EET selected Schuberg Philis as their outsourcing partner. Both partners, signed a five year outsourcing contract with a value exceeding € 15 million.
René van der Vegt, Director of ENECO Energy Trade, says: "We have chosen Schuberg Philis because they are able to quickly implement and control changes in our critical systems. This is very important for us: only then we will be able to keep on moving with the developments of our market at a high quality level. Moreover, Schuberg Philis is very progressive in the field of risk management, and has built a strong position with regard to the "auditability" of their services. As we trade in a highly regulated market, this was also an important factor for us."
